Abstract

The field of art and design is inherently interdisciplinary, encompassing a wide array of practices that require ethical considerations. This paper explores the complex ethical dilemmas faced by artists and designers in their creative processes. By examining historical and contemporary case studies, the paper highlights the importance of ethical awareness in the production and consumption of art and design. Key issues discussed include the representation of marginalized communities, the use of culturally sensitive materials, the impact of technology on the creative process, and the responsibility of designers towards their audience. The paper argues that ethical considerations are not only crucial for the integrity of the artist or designer but also for fostering social responsibility and ethical awareness within the broader context of society. It concludes with a call for the integration of ethical training in art and design education to prepare future practitioners to navigate the ethical landscape of their careers.
